Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. is offering a Summer Internship Program in Worcester, MA. Ideal candidates are enrolled in a bachelor’s or higher program with a 3.0 GPA or higher, have strong writing/editing skills, and can work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Marketing or Communications majors preferred.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Able to commit to a full-time 10-week internship program.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills; familiarity with major social platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support the corporate communications team for internal and external projects.
  • Support corporate social media initiatives through audits, analyses, content planning, and reporting.
  • Assist in developing communications materials including press releases and campaigns.
  • Contribute ideas and storytelling concepts to elevate the company’s presence.
  • Research industry trends and present recommendations for communications and social media strategies.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

The Hanover’s Internship Program provides college students with the opportunity to work on a variety of critical business assignments, test your skills, use your academic knowledge, and match your interests to a real job. Through the 10-week summer program (June – mid August), You will:

  • Take on meaningful projects and work alongside some of the very best talent in the industry
  • Be supported and mentored by a community of exceptional talent (leaders, managers, subject matter experts and recent graduates)
  • Participate in a cross-functional team building project focused on corporate philanthropy
  • Attend weekly development workshops with your intern peers
  • Join in engagement and social activities with other interns

Our Corporate Communications team is seeking exceptional college students for our Summer Internship Program, which provides meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as rewarding career path options.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
  • Support the corporate communications team for a variety of internal and external projects.
  • Support corporate social media initiatives through channel audits, competitive analyses, content planning, and performance reporting.
  • Assist in developing internal and external communications materials, including press releases, media pitches, executive thought leadership content, company events, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute creative ideas, fresh perspectives, and innovative storytelling concepts that help elevate the company's communications and social media presence.
  • Research industry, competitor, and marketplace trends and present recommendations to help inform communications and social media strategies.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program
  • Marketing or Communication majors preferred
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Ability to commit to a full time 10-week internship program
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
  • Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail, familiarity with major social medical platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X and YouTube preferred.

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards.
