Iaas Lc in Portland, Oregon seeks a civil engineering student intern to assist with planning, design, and permitting of civil projects. You will prepare and modify engineering documents using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other software, and assess soil, terrain, and hydrological data for project feasibility.

The role supports zoning and permit assessments; travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments. Excellent communication and teamwork are valued in this hands-on internship.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil Engineering with GPA 3.0 or higher preferred.
• Familiar with AutoCAD or Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Assist with planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and modify engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other software.
• Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data impacting project planning and design.
• Support zoning, ordinance, and permit assessments; assist with sidewalk cost estimations; determine project feasibility based on data analysis.
• Provide field inspection services as needed.
• Apply engineering knowledge and advanced mathematics techniques.
• Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments.
• Perform other duties as requested.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Student actively pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Civil Engineering; cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel as required based on business needs and project assignments.
