Job summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op - Environmental to join its Tampa, FL team. This role supports environmental aspects of land development projects, including field work, data collection, and preliminary calculations under guidance from environmental leadership.

You will gain exposure to site feasibility studies, reports, and use of GIS or similar software and Microsoft Office. Travel may be required; preference for juniors or seniors or MS candidates; training and mentorship are provided.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
• GPA 3.0 or greater.
• Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Working knowledge of GIS or environmentally related software, and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Travel may be required based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of field investigations (borings, samples, field tests, data collection).
• Monitor construction projects by performing tests to verify compliance with specifications.
• Prepare reports documenting field investigations and results.
• Prepare field logs and forms (drilling logs, dailies, chain of custody).
• Learn data management and modeling tools for environmental media and how to use field equipment.
• Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and prepares reports.
• Prepare laboratory data tables and figures.
• Assess soil, terrain, hydrological and geologic data for project planning and design.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op - Environmental to join its collaborative team in Tampa, FL. This individual will serve a key function in providing assistance with environmental-related technical aspects of diverse land development projects, both small and large scale. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner directly with environmental leadership and gain exposure to site feasibility studies which may involve field work, technical report preparation and calculations, pre-construction conditions documentation, design plans and specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations by logging borings, collecting samples, performing field tests and collecting and recording data;
• Monitor construction projects by taking various tests to evaluate whether the contractor or subcontractor has complied with job specifications;
• Identify solutions to field and/or laboratory problems and accurately document results;
• Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results;
• Prepare a variety of standard logs and field forms (such as drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs).
• Learn data management and modeling tools for environmental media, how to perform engineering analyses, and how to properly use field equipment;
• Conduct; file reviews, site reconnaissance, and prepares reports;
• Prepare laboratory data summary tables and figures;
• Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
• Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology;
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
• Working knowledge of GIS or environmentally related software, and Microsoft Office Suite applications;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and
• Travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments. Travel requirements may vary by position and may change based on business needs.

Preference will be given to students who are currently in their Jr. or Sr. year or to students pursuing their MS degree.
