Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking an Environmental Intern/Co-op in Boston, MA. You will support environmental-related technical aspects of land development projects, gain exposure to feasibility studies, and interact with environmental leadership while participating in field work and reporting.

This role offers hands-on experience in site investigations, design plans, and calculations across diverse projects, with opportunities for mentorship and career growth at a leading

Qualifications

  • Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of GIS or environmentally related software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Travel may be required based on business needs and project assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations by logging borings, collecting samples, performing field tests and collecting and recording data.
  • Monitor construction projects by taking various tests to evaluate whether the contractor or subcontractor has complied with job specifications.
  • Identify solutions to field and/or laboratory problems and accurately document results.
  • Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
  • Prepare a variety of standard logs and field forms (such as drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs).
  • Learn data management and modeling tools for environmental media, how to perform engineering analyses, and how to properly use field equipment.
  • Conduct; file reviews, site reconnaissance, and prepares reports.
  • Prepare laboratory data summary tables and figures.
  • Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Intern/Co-op - Environmental to join its collaborative team in Boston, MA. This individual will serve a key function in providing assistance with environmental‑related technical aspects of diverse land development projects, both small and large scale. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner directly with environmental leadership and gain exposure to site feasibility studies which may involve field work, technical report preparation and calculations, pre‑construction conditions documentation, design plans and specifications.
