Job summary

HTU in California is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to assist with medication preparation and distribution under supervision. You will help ensure safe and cost-effective therapy, support patient plans, and learn regulations to advance toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Two semesters or three quarters in an accredited school of pharmacy.
• PHARMI certification.
• Experience with home infusion pharmacy operations preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical names.
• Understanding of narcotic delivery procedures.
• Ability to use prescribing and dispensing abbreviations and terms.
• Familiarity with NABP, Joint Commission, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA and USP.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good time management and organization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, EHR, and EPIC.

Your Role

Here's what you will be doing:

• Perform pharmaceutical procedures for medication preparation and distribution under the direction of a licensed Pharmacist.
• Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy.
• Provide pharmaceutical support to the patient's plan of care based on diagnosis in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.
• Support the staff pharmacist and gain experience required to be eligible for the pharmacist licensure examination.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

• Completion of at least two semesters or three quarters in an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Intern (PHARMI) certification.
• Working knowledge of home infusion pharmacy operations is desired.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations, and laws and regulations.
• Understanding of different pharmacy practice settings, including narcotic delivery and procedures.
• Ability to identify and employ pharmaceutical and medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols used in prescribing, dispensing, and record keeping.
• Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including NABP, The Joint Commission, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA, and USP.
• Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
• Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and adherence to standardized procedures.
• General knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, pharmaceutical technology, electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $41.75 per hour.
