Job summary

Fernbrook Family Center offers internships for Bachelor level students in Social Work, Psychology, and related fields. Interns work under the direct supervision of a qualified site supervisor from Fernbrook.

The student intern will engage in observation of clinical activities and work on non-clinical activities related to their specific discipline and consistent with their individual learning requirements from their program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level intern works under direct supervision of a qualified site supervisor.
• Provides mental health skills-based services to clients using observation-based learning.
• Completes documentation in alignment with established content and timeliness standards.
• Maintains professional boundaries and ethical practice while engaging with clients and families.

Responsibilities

• The student intern works under the direct supervision of the agency’s qualified site supervisor. All services provided by the Intern will be reviewed by the Supervisor
• Provide mental health skills-based services to children, adults, and families through individual, family, and group modalities.
• Use effective and culturally responsive strategies to address clients needs.
• Complete documentation in alignment with established content, quality, and timeliness standards.
• Meet required productivity benchmarks for client services and weekly billable expectations.
• Seek supervisory guidance and consultation as needed.
• Attend and engage in staff meetings in ways that support your professional needs.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Fernbrook staff and external service providers.
• Uphold and communicate Fernbrook Family Center’s mission internally and externally.
• Follow all agency policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Fernbrook Family Center provides internships for Bachelor level students from the fields of Social Work, Psychology, and other related fields. Bachelor level student intern work done under the direct supervision of a qualified site supervisor from Fernbrook. The student intern will engage in observation of clinical activities and work on non-clinical activities related to their specific discipline and consistent with their individual learning requirements from their program

Supervisory Responsibilities

Bachelor Level Interns are not responsible for the supervision of other employees. They are expected to coordinate services with other Fernbrook employees who share caseloads.

Physical Demands

• Extended periods of sitting, listening, observing, or using a computer.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Work hours are flexible, generally between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
• Regular travel to client homes, community settings, Fernbrook offices, and off-site locations where clients may be placed is required.
• The number of hours will be dependent on internship requirements
• Interns can work up to 40 hours per week. may work up to 40 hours per week; overtime must be pre-approved by a supervisor.

Education and Experience

• Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and an acceptable driving record are required for positions involving community-based client contact.
• Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with agency and Department of Human Services requirements.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Experience working with children, adults, and families.
• Bilingual
