Job summary

Notre Dame is seeking interns to work on AI-powered software development projects. You will collaborate with software engineers, AI champions, architects, and engineering leaders on automation initiatives within enterprise-scale industrial contexts.

You will gain hands-on experience across the full development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, system design, test-driven development, test automation, and build and configuration management.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or advanced degree program.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
• Preferred: degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Graduation date in December 2027 or later.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Work on software development projects within AI to develop AI-powered solutions that improve software quality, security, delivery velocity, and engineering efficiency.
• Collaborate with software engineers, AI champions, architects, and engineering leaders on enterprise-scale industrial automation software development projects.
• Gain hands‑on experience in software development environments and techniques, including the full development life cycle, agile methodology, system design, test-driven development, test automation, and build and configuration management.
• Build software applications, services, and integrations using modern software engineering practices and AI technologies.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who have:

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's or advanced degree program from an accredited college or university.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Graduation date in December 2027 or later.
• Interest in continuous innovation and improvement in software development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Angular/Node, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript (Typescript), Kotlin, Go, or Python.
• Familiarity with Generative AI tools, large language models, AI agents, machine learning concepts, or prompt engineering.
• Experience with Angular, React, and modern web application frameworks.
• Knowledge of GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Services, and cloud-native technologies.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and test automation frameworks.
• Experience in industrial automation software, PLC development, and manufacturing technologies.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly pay range of $20 to $32, based on skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
