Job description

Application Deadline: October 31, 2026

Nassau’s 10-week, 2027 summer internship program in our Hartford, CT office prepares college students for careers on the cutting edge of insurance and asset management. The AI Center of Excellence (CoE) Intern will help employees use approved enterprise AI tools effectively and support the organization’s early exploration of agentic AI. Working with the AI CoE Lead, business teams, technology, information security, privacy, risk, and compliance, the intern will research use cases, document workflows, build limited prototypes in approved environments, and test results against agreed criteria. This is a supervised learning role with meaningful project ownership. Business and control owners retain responsibility for approvals, production changes, and decisions that affect customers, investments, or financial records.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
  • Everyday AI enablement: Develop practical example and training materials for approved enterprise ChatGPT and Claude capabilities. Gather user feedback and summarize adoption barriers and recurring support questions.
  • Use case discovery: Interview process owners and map selected annuity, investment operations, finance, and IT workflows. Record the current steps, data involved, handoffs, decision points, potential benefits, and human approvals.
  • Agent pilot preparation: Help distinguish tasks suited to drafting, search, workflow automation, and agentic AI. Assist in writing pilot requirements, tool permissions, escalation rules, and acceptance criteria for approved use cases.
  • Prototype and evaluation: With supervision, create representative test cases; measure quality, failure modes, time saved, and whether reviewers can understand and correct outputs.
  • Risk and documentation: Document privacy and security considerations, source traceability, human review points, and known limitations. Maintain a use case inventory, test evidence, decision log, and concise readouts for the CoE
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, information systems, data science, business analytics, finance, insurance, or a related field; equivalent relevant projects or experience are welcome.
  • Able to explain a process clearly, ask useful questions, and document findings for technical and nontechnical colleagues.
  • Familiarity through coursework or projects with generative AI, data analysis, software development, business process improvement, or automation.
  • Comfortable learning unfamiliar tools and testing claims against evidence rather than assuming an AI output is correct.
  • Able to handle confidential information responsibly and follow access, data handling, and review procedures.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, APIs, low code automation, or cloud services such as AWS.
  • Experience comparing AI outputs with reference answers, creating test cases, or assessing errors and edge cases.
  • Interest in annuities, investment operations, asset management, finance, and regulated business processes.
  • Experience designing short demonstrations or training content for end users
