Job summary

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Nassau’s 10 week summer internship program prepared college students for careers on the cutting edge of insurance and asset management. This is an opportunity to learn about a specific field or functional area while gaining valuable hands‑on work experience. The communications and investor relations functions are part of the Chief of Staff department. This is a highly visible position that interacts with employees across the company, requiring good judgment, confidentiality, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily writing and designing short form news stories and other content for company intranet and onsite TV monitors; typically 5-10 stories per week


• Assist team members with PowerPoint presentations, including both research and design, used with investors and other key external and internal audiences


• Create internal content for the company’s Community Engagement program, including volunteer recruiting and post-event highlights


• Take on other research, database and library creation, and various administrative tasks


• Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting employee events as needed

Role requires 4 days/week in the office

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong news and promotional writing skills and understanding how to write for different audiences.


• Strong skills in using Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and SharePoint.


• Aptitude in basic graphic design in Canva, familiarity with WordPress is a plus.


• Resourcefulness in approaching research and database projects, including AI solutions.


• Responsiveness, ability to work independently, maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities, and keep up in a fast-paced environment.


• Ability to exercise good judgement, confidentiality, and integrity, and maintain executive presence.

Preferred academic background

Major or minor in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related liberal arts fields, with coursework in finance/business preferred.

Compensation

The base pay for this role is: $23/hr.
