Job summary

ConGlobal is hiring an Intermodal Equipment Operator to move containers within our intermodal yard. You’ll operate hostlers, cranes, top loaders, and side loaders to load, unload, and relocate containers, ensuring safe and efficient yard operations.

Starting pay ranges per hour and includes benefits as part of a full-time schedule. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work outdoors in all weather, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in logistics or industrial settings.
• Must pass pre-employment background check, physical and drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Open availability including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders/stairs on railcars.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load/unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the yard.
• Use top loaders, side loaders, or cranes to stack and move containers.
• Perform Groundman duties during initial training period and assist with railroad maintenance tasks.
• Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safety.
• Coordinate moves with yard personnel and supervisors.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following protocols.

Starting Pay: $22.07 – $24.28/hour

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the yard.
• Use top loaders, side loaders, and/or cranes to stack, move, and organize containers.
• Perform Groundman duties during the initial training period, assisting with railroad maintenance activities such as handling tools and materials, clearing debris from tracks, maintaining worksite safety, and supporting experienced crew members.
• Perform equipment inspections before and after use to ensure operational safety.
• Communicate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate moves and tasks.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following established protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in a logistics or industrial environment preferred
• Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
• Valid driver’s license
• Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening
  • The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in intermodal or rail yard operations.
• Familiarity with container handling equipment such as hostlers, top loaders, or cranes.
• CDL or equipment certifications a plus, but not required.
