Job summary

ConGlobal is hiring immediately for an Intermodal Equipment Operator to move containers within our intermodal yard using hostlers, cranes, top loaders and side loaders. You will be part of a safety‑minded team ensuring on‑time freight handling.

Open availability for all shifts and weekends is required; valid driver's license is mandatory. Training provided and opportunities for career advancement within our global supply chain.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a logistics or industrial environment preferred.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load/unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the yard.
• Use top loaders, side loaders, and cranes to move and organize containers.
• Perform Groundman duties during training period and assist with railroad maintenance activities.
• Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safety and reliability.
• Communicate with yard personnel to coordinate moves and tasks.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following protocols.

About The Role

As an Intermodal Equipment Operator (also known as a Terminal Operator), you'll play a critical role in the safe and efficient movement of shipping containers within our intermodal yard. You'll operate specialized equipment - such as hostlers, cranes, top loaders, and side loaders to load, unload, and relocate containers as part of our daily logistics operations. Your work ensures containers are handled accurately and safely, keeping freight moving on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload shipping containers from railcars and trucks.
• Drive hostlers to position containers and chassis within the yard.
• Use top loaders, side loaders, and/or cranes to stack, move, and organize containers.
• Perform Groundman duties during the initial training period, assisting with railroad maintenance activities such as handling tools and materials, clearing debris from tracks, maintaining worksite safety, and supporting experienced crew members.
• Perform equipment inspections before and after use to ensure operational safety.
• Communicate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate moves and tasks.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following established protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in a logistics or industrial environment preferred
• Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
• Basic communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars
• Valid driver's license
• Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening
• The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in intermodal or rail yard operations.
• Familiarity with container handling equipment such as hostlers, top loaders, or cranes.
• CDL or equipment certifications a plus, but not required.
