Job summary

The Maurer laboratory at University of Michigan is seeking a Research Lab Specialist Intermediate. The role focuses on combining super-resolution microscopy with genomics, biochemistry, and proteomics to study vector-host interactions in rAAV gene therapies.

Ideal candidates have mammalian cell culture and cloning experience and will work on vector production and assay development. Responsibilities include designing experiments, training students, and maintaining lab inventories while supporting

Qualifications

• Molecular and cellular biology-focused qualifications with AAV/vector experience.
• Experience producing recombinant AAV vectors at small to medium scale.
• Strong knowledge of AAV biology and the primary literature.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct research using microscopy, molecular biology, and biochemistry with cells and animal models.
• Train and assist students and fellows in lab methods and instrument use.
• Develop assays including nanopore sequencing, DNA extraction and vector titration.
• Maintain stocks, prepare reagents, and manage waste and environmental practices.
• Assist senior staff with administrative tasks related to research goals.
