Intermediate Designer - Retail & Professional Services

The Retail Team in the St. Louis office is seeking qualified candidates for an Intermediate Designer position with our national brands rollout team. This team specializes in collaborating with clients, general contractors, and building departments to implement brand standards through services such as building surveys, due diligence, code analysis, architectural construction documents, engineer coordination, and permitting services.

Project involvement may also include space planning, finish selection, design development, and detailing. Typical project size is approximately 3,000 SF of interior remodels, ranging from 1,500 to 5,000 SF. The role includes some construction administration tasks such as shop drawing review and responding to RFIs. Most projects are communication, organization, technical, and production-oriented.

Candidate Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in a commercial or retail design firm using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent design, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of interior construction methods, materials, details, and standard building codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite is required, with a willingness to learn new software to enhance client experience.
  • Basic project management skills to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage up to 40-50 project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client interaction and communication skills, balanced with a production mindset.
  • Responsiveness to client, contractor, and building department inquiries.
  • Ability to adapt and implement established brand standards nationally.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (ICC, Chapter 11B, TAS, ADA), life safety, separation, and fire codes.
  • Experience with client maintenance, engineer coordination, permit applications, building department interactions, issuing construction documents, and addressing building department comments.
