WSP has an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering Team in Atlanta, Georgia. Responsibilities
- Provide solutions to ground engineering problems through tasks such as subsurface explorations, ground condition interpretation, laboratory test specification and interpretation, and engineering analyses for slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, and seepage.
- Assist with designing foundations, earthen structures, geosynthetic systems, and retaining structures by preparing design documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Create detailed technical reports summarizing findings and conclusions, ensuring complete, accurate, and succinct documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and specialized software.
- Assist with data collection and management from physical sites, soil/rock samples, surveys, maps, and other geotechnical data for project development and construction.
- Maintain quality control for the accuracy of environmental data measurements and analysis.
- Support technical staff and project managers through insights and analyses related to design, construction, mitigation, and remediation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist with fieldwork coordination and permitting.
- Adhere to ethical standards and company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience.
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, practices, and application to permitting and project issues.
- Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, construction management, rehabilitation, and new design.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and travel for field assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Prior design experience.
- Participation in local professional organizations.
