This Opportunity

WSP has an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering Team in Atlanta, Georgia. Your Impact

  • Provide solutions to ground engineering problems by performing engineering tasks, such as subsurface explorations, interpretation of ground conditions, specifying and interpreting laboratory tests, and performing engineering analyses for slope stability, settlement, liquefaction, and seepage.
  • Assist with the design of foundations and earthen structures, geosynthetic systems, and retaining structures by preparing design documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Create detailed technical reports that summarize findings and conclusions, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and succinct by utilizing sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and specialized software.
  • Assist with data collection and data management from physical work sites, soil/rock samples, surveys, maps, and other geotechnical data necessary for project development and construction.
  • Maintain quality control for accurate measurements and analysis of environmental data.
  • Support technical staff and project managers by contributing insights and analyses to design concepts, construction activities, mitigation efforts, and remediation projects.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with fieldwork coordination and permitting.
  • Adhere to ethical decision-making and company policies.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management, including rehabilitation and new design.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, effectively and professionally conveying ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
  • Employees in this role are subject to a client-mandated drug and alcohol testing policy. As such, random drug and alcohol tests may be required. A copy of this policy will be provided during onboarding and is available upon request.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Comfortable working in remote settings and able to travel for field assignments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Prior design experience.
  • A member of and/or actively participates in local professional practice organizations.
