Job summary

Chenega MIOS in Oakton, VA is seeking an Intermediate Firewall Engineer to lead core firewall engineering, daily administration, and patching across on‑premises and classified enclaves. You will configure Palo Alto firewalls via Panorama, implement policies, and ensure DISA STIG compliance under change management.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate maintenance, and partner with SOC for incident response and mission support, with opportunities for growth within the DoD ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Requires DoD 8140/8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certs.
• Experience with enterprise NGFW administration and policy enforcement.
• Clearance eligibility (Secret/TS/SCI) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Palo Alto NGFWs via Panorama.
• Develop and deploy security policies and App-ID rules.
• Investigate complex connectivity issues and VPN problems.
• Implement dynamic routing and perimeter access controls.
• Lead site management for classified networks and PAN-OS updates.
• Maintain DISA STIG checklists and security posture baselines.
• Provide incident support to SOC and mentor junior engineers.
• Document configurations and SOPs in ticketing systems.
