Job summary

Chenega MIOS is seeking a Sr. Cyber Security Engineer to join our Arlington, VA team supporting DoD and government missions.

The role emphasizes hands-on security engineering, incident response, and security monitoring using Splunk SIEM, with a focus on DoD DISA STIG compliance and system hardening across Windows, UNIX/Linux, and virtualization platforms. You'll collaborate with product engineers and CIRT to analyze threats, develop mitigations, and deliver security training and documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• 8570 IAT Level 2 Certification required (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP).
• TS/SCI clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the security of hardware (SoC, MCU) and low-level OS components of consumer devices.
• Provide systems security support for protection of information system assets.
• Implement technology that supports network defense, vulnerability management, and incident response.
• Assess and review risks and work with product engineers to create mitigations.
• Develop and execute policies, standards, and procedures.
• Develop and deliver security training, promote awareness, and educate product engineers on technology.
• Research on latest standard methodologies, trends, threats, and frameworks.
• Splunk SME responsible for engineering and maintenance of multiple clustered instances.
• Implement and maintain security stack components (IDS/IPS, firewalls, SIEM, host-based security).
• Mature Splunk instances to support detection and insider threat programs.
• Build system baselines using SCAP for Windows and UNIX/Linux.
• Engineer event log correlation solutions for customer response to incidents.
• Conduct incident response actions based on detected events and incidents.
• Validate and develop cybersecurity requirements.
• Develop cybersecurity engineering solutions across security aspects.
• Coordinate with stakeholders in functional and technical areas.
