Job summary

Enbridge is seeking an Environmental Engineer to support SPCC programs across our U.S. Gas Transmission and Midstream operations. The role blends field and office work with up to 30% travel to active sites.

Responsibilities include preparing SPCC plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating with operations, while using Maximo/Enablon and SmartPlan for plan management. A PE-licensed engineer with 4+ years' SPCC experience is preferred.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepare, review, update and Professional Engineer certify Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans for all applicable assets.

  • Coordinate site visits with appropriate operations personnel and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with SPCC Regulation, identifying areas for improvement and communicating findings in a clear and actionable manner to operations.

  • Coordinate the migration of SPCC plans into SmartPlan and for all SPCC plan management.

  • Retain and manage third party consultants’ personnel when required to support SPCC program, including their compliance with Enbridge’s safety program requirements.

  • Provide guidance, advice, and interpretation of SPCC regulations, and where applicable, related state regulations.

  • Update internal systems (i.e., Maximo, Enablon) to ensure compliance tasks and inspection findings are tracked and documented.

Who You Are:
  • Degree in engineering, with Professional Engineer PE certification and able to obtain license in states within which Enbridge operates.

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience, ideally with hands-on experience conducting site inspections related to SPCC compliance.

  • Exposure to, and understanding of SPCC regulation and/or related state regulations.

  • Experience utilizing SmartPlan or similar platform for SPCC Plan management is an asset.

  • Experience with natural gas transmission, gathering, production, or distribution is preferred.

  • Role requires a valid driver’s license, which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire.

Working Conditions:
  • Both office and field environment.

  • Up to 30% field work with travel durations ranging from 1 day to 1 week at a time. Exposure to active operating sites often without escort / work alone at active facilities.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, walking on uneven/unpaved surfaces, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $80,500 – $120,000/year USD for US locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.

  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
