Intermediate Care Nurse - 6 Hall (PRN Night Shift)

Location: Adele Hall. Division: 6 Hall. Shift: Night shift (7p-7a). Work type: PRN. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Overview

6 Hall is a 16-bed, general medical/surgical unit that specializes in infectious diseases. When isolation is required, any room on the unit can be used. There are two special isolation rooms, equipped with ante-rooms and special ventilation capabilities, which can be used for airborne-transmitted diseases. Patients range in age from neonates to 18 years. We occasionally treat young adults.

Common diagnoses include:

  • RSV
  • Influenza
  • Pneumonia
  • COVID-19
  • Gastroenteritis
  • Febrile illness
  • Asthma exacerbation

The Intermediate Care Nurse utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care for low acuity assigned patients. Assists with the shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Our immunization requirements: The seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree (ADN) Required. Current employees who were hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training.
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date. No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training.
  • Licensed RN – Missouri (MO) – Register Nurse multistate license required upon hire.
  • Licensed RN – Kansas (KS) – Register Nurse multistate license required upon hire.
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire.
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $31.50/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
