Job summary

SCB is seeking talented Architects to join our San Francisco office, a national design firm focused on multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, academic, and aviation projects.

As a project architect, you will lead design development, create technical drawings, coordinate with consultants, and guide junior staff through BIM modeling, ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

  • Accredited professional degree in architecture.
  • Licensed Architect in the U.S. or actively working to attain licensure.
  • Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of local zoning ordinances and building codes.
  • Technical knowledge of building systems and material assemblies.
  • Proficient with Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma; familiarity with Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity, Adobe CS.
  • Experience in multi-family residential, hospitality, campus environments, or aviation projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement project design philosophy and drive successful design through construction phases.
  • Develop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies with project leaders.
  • Manage time and tasks to meet deadlines; oversee junior staff.
  • Collaborate with design consultants and project team.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee BIM modeling; mentor junior staff.
  • Explore opportunities for innovative system applications and process improvements.
  • Demonstrate initiative and seek guidance from leadership as needed.
  • Engage with team with a positive, team-first attitude.

Job description

SCB is seeking talented Architects to join our San Francisco office. We’re a national, multi-disciplinary design firm with a focus on multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, academic, and aviation projects.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about design, collaborative by nature, and possess a solid understanding of building materials, systems, detailing, and construction methods. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Project Architect and Project Manager. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, graphic representations, technical drawings, studies, and other materials related to architectural design.

Your Qualifications
  • Accredited professional degree in architecture
  • 5-15 years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firm
  • Licensed Architect in the U.S. or actively working to attain licensure
  • A strong design sensibility and attention to detail
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local zoning ordinances and building codes
  • Technical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering concepts
  • Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma and Excel; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Multi-family residential, Hospitality, Campus Environments, or Aviation project experience preferred
The Role
  • Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phases
  • Develop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies in collaboration with project leaders
  • Manage time and organize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines, including oversight of junior team members
  • Collaborate with the project team, including direct coordination with design consultants
  • Participate in team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
  • Oversee all aspects of BIM modeling, mentoring and training more junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner
  • Research and promote opportunities for new or innovative system applications; proactively look for and implement processes to improve work product and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate initiative in problem solving and seek guidance when necessary from team leadership
  • Engage with the project and studio team with a positive, team-first attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to the project and firm’s success
