Job summary

SCB in Boston is seeking talented Architects to join our office. We’re a national, multi-disciplinary design firm with a focus on multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, academic, and aviation projects.

At SCB, every designer participates in design, collaborating with consultants to prepare studies, drawings, and BIM models under supervision of a Project Architect and Project Manager. The role emphasizes detail, coordination, and thoughtful collaboration.

Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in architecture.
• 5-15 years post-graduate, full-time experience in an architectural firm.
• Licensed Architect in the U.S. or actively working toward licensure.
• Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of local zoning ordinances and building codes.
• Technical knowledge of building systems and material assemblies.
• Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma; familiarity with Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience in multi-family residential, hospitality, campus environments, or aviation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement project design philosophy and drive successful execution through design and construction phases.
• Develop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies with project leaders.
• Manage time and organize tasks to meet deadlines, including oversight of junior team members.
• Collaborate with the project team and design consultants.
• Participate in team meetings and client presentations with multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee BIM modeling and mentor junior staff in a constructive, thoughtful manner.
• Explore opportunities for innovative system applications and process improvements.
• Demonstrate initiative in problem solving and seek guidance from leadership.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about design, collaborative by nature, and possess a solid understanding of building materials, systems, detailing, and construction methods. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Project Architect and Project Manager. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, graphic representations, technical drawings, studies, and other materials related to architectural design.

Your Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in architecture
• 5-15 years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firm
• Licensed Architect in the U.S. or actively working to attain licensure
• A strong design sensibility and attention to detail
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local zoning ordinances and building codes
• Technical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering concepts
• Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma and Excel; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite
• Multi-family residential, Hospitality, Campus Environments, or Aviation project experience preferred

The Role

• Oversee all aspects of BIM modeling, mentoring and training more junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner
• Research and promote opportunities for new or innovative system applications; proactively look for and implement processes to improve work product and efficiency.
• Demonstrate initiative in problem solving and seek guidance when necessary from team leadership
• Engage with the project and studio team with a positive, team-first attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to the project and firm’s success

• Salary: $85,000 – $125,000 depending on experience
