Job summary

SCB in San Francisco is seeking talented Architects to join our office. We are a national, multi-disciplinary design firm focused on multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, academic, and aviation projects.

You will work under project leadership to develop design studies, drawings, and technical details, collaborating with consultants and team members to deliver projects on time and with quality. The role emphasizes design excellence, teamwork, and BIM leadership.

Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in architecture.
• 5–15 years post-graduate, full-time experience in an architectural firm.
• Licensed Architect in the U.S. or actively pursuing licensure.
• Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of local zoning ordinances and building codes.
• Technical knowledge of building systems and material assemblies.
• Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma; familiar with Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience in Multi-family residential, Hospitality, Campus Environments, or Aviation projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement project design philosophy and drive successful execution through design and construction phases.
• Develop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies with project leaders.
• Manage time and organize tasks to meet deadlines, overseeing junior staff.
• Collaborate with project team and design consultants.
• Participate in team meetings and client presentations with multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee BIM modeling and mentor junior staff in a constructive manner.
• Research and promote innovative system applications; seek efficiency improvements.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about design, collaborative by nature, and possess a solid understanding of building materials, systems, detailing, and construction methods. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Project Architect and Project Manager. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, graphic representations, technical drawings, studies, and other materials related to architectural design.

Your Qualifications

• Accredited professional degree in architecture
• 5-15 years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firm
• Licensed Architect in the U.S. or actively working to attain licensure
• A strong design sensibility and attention to detail
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local zoning ordinances and building codes
• Technical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering concepts
• Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma and Excel; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite
• Multi-family residential, Hospitality, Campus Environments, or Aviation project experience preferred

The Role

• Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phases

• Manage time and organize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines, including oversight of junior team members
• Collaborate with the project team, including direct coordination with design consultants
• Participate in team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
• Oversee all aspects of BIM modeling, mentoring and training more junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner
• Research and promote opportunities for new or innovative system applications; proactively look for and implement processes to improve work product and efficiency.
• Demonstrate initiative in problem solving and seek guidance when necessary from team leadership
• Engage with the project and studio team with a positive, team-first attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to the project and firm’s success

• Salary: $85,000 - $125,000 depending on experience
