Job summary

Kuvare is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support its life insurance and annuity operations. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, analyze financial activity, and assist in the quarterly/annual financial statements.

The role works independently on assigned tasks while partnering with other areas to ensure accurate financial results. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of accounting experience and a solid grounding in GAAP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education/experience.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of STAT accounting principles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record journal entries in accordance with STAT and GAAP accounting policies.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items to ensure timely resolution.
  • Explain routine fluctuations in balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly/annual financial statements.
  • Prepare supporting schedules used in internal/external financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve accounting questions and obtain supporting information.
  • Assist with audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Participate in system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives designed to improve accounting efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

About The Role

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for performing accounting activities supporting the Company's life insurance and annuity operations. This role prepares journal entries, reconciles accounts, analyzes financial activity, supports the financial close processes, and assists in the preparation of the quarterly/annual financial statements.

The Intermediate Accountant works independently on assigned responsibilities while partnering with other business areas to ensure the accurate recording of financial results.

What You'll Do

  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of STAT accounting principles preferred

Physical Demands
  • Normal office working environment, full time with some flexibility
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours to meet deadlines

  • Ability to read from a computer screen and paper reports
  • Express ideas and otherwise communicate with the spoken word

Salary: $75,000 -$80,000
