Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an Interiors Technician to fabricate, install, and finish aircraft interior components in a hangar environment. The role focuses on cabin and cockpit installations, functional testing of systems, and precise documentation of work within defined time and budget constraints.

Job Title: Interiors Technician Job Description

The Interiors Technician fabricates, installs, and finishes aircraft interior components while meeting strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role focuses on cabin and cockpit interior installations, functional testing of systems and assemblies, and accurate documentation of work, all within defined time and budget constraints.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned interior installation and fabrication tasks within allocated man-hour budgets and schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
• Fabricate, assemble, and install interior products such as window panels, headliners, decorative panels, and access panels.
• Install main cabin cabinetry including galleys, crew closets, entertainment cabinets, window shades, side ledges, tables, mid-run cabinets, and lavatory cabinets.
• Install final assemblies including sinks, water systems, air and oxygen systems, drawers, and other related components.
• Perform functional checks on installed systems to verify proper operation and compliance with specifications.
• Adjust and conduct functional tests on mechanical assemblies such as drawers, magazine racks, doors, curtains, and tables.
• Install and fit carpeting in the aircraft cabin to required standards and tolerances.
• Install cockpit and cabin seats and perform functional tests to ensure correct operation and safety.
• Set up and operate standard shop equipment and common hand tools required for interior work.
• Accurately document all work performed using Corridor or other required documentation systems.
• Complete tasks in a quality-focused manner, consistently meeting schedule and budget expectations.
• Assist other team members as required to support project and departmental goals.
• Work in accordance with company rules and procedures, including Safety, Training, Quality, and Human Resources policies.
• Follow business unit rules such as Tool Control and 5S practices to maintain organization and accountability.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times when working in the hangar and ramp environments.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and presentable throughout the workday.
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support aircraft interior projects and operational needs.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with aircraft interior or cabin installations.
• Ability to work from sketches or 3D models to complete interior installations and assemblies.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions such as installation procedures and test procedures.
• Proficiency in using drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, drum sanders, and other common hand tools and equipment.
• Physical and muscular dexterity to install carpets, headliners, window panels, passenger service units (PSUs), cabinet assemblies, cushions, seats, tables, and related components.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in a standing position, lean on the floor, and stand up and down repeatedly, with or without accommodation.
• Ability to repeatedly enter and exit aircraft using stationary steps or stairs while transporting interior furnishings.
• Ability to assist other employees with transporting interior items that require more than one person to move safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical training in aircraft structures or aircraft maintenance.
• Experience in servicing, modifying, or repairing aircraft.
• Experience in custom cabinet installation and/or upholstery work.
