Overview

Interior Project Manager on the Perkins&Will Houston Interiors team. This role involves leading interior design projects with responsibility for design execution, client liaison, project delivery, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and consistently execute all aspects of the design process and project complexities to contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in interior design, execution, and living design.
  • Take full responsibility for managing all aspects of projects to ensure efficient execution within scope and budget.
  • Manage project teams, foster collaboration, communicate clearly and provide direction that inspires high team performance, design ideas, and successful project delivery.
  • Participate in developing and validating project scope and fee, budget, and scope of services during marketing and contract development.
  • Provide complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and project team.
  • Understand and respond to technical implications and design decisions.
  • Manage projects using the Deltek Project Management system; develop work plans including project team members, budget, consultants, schedule, fees, costs, and project change notices.
  • Coordinate with Interior Project Designers to avoid or resolve scheduling conflicts due to changes across projects.
  • Maintain ongoing communication through team meetings, minutes, and updated memos to the project team.
  • Prepare strategic plans for project success and serve as primary client liaison to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Participate in marketing opportunities and develop strong client relationships for continuing business.
  • Consider risk management by monitoring client and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability.
  • Understand design philosophies and current trends, including planning and strategies, documentation, furniture specifications, materials, and finishes.
  • Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Coordinate staffing resources with Operations Director; collaborate with clients, consultants, and partners to resolve design and project issues.
  • Understand project financial management and contract administration, including budgeting, scheduling, coordination, and contract negotiations.
  • Cultivate partnerships with General Contractors, Engineers, Furniture Dealers, and Audio-Visual Consultants.
  • Direct, mentor, and coordinate work efforts of multiple project teams.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in interiors, architecture, or related discipline required.
  • 10 years of relevant experience including experience with corporate office clients.
  • Experience in all phases of project design, construction documentation production, programming, space planning, and FF&E.
  • Understanding of project financial management and contract administration including project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and contract negotiations.
  • Revit proficient.
  • Basic project management software skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to direct, mentor, and coordinate work efforts of multiple project teams.
  • LEED GA or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design (e.g., LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation).
  • Licensure (NCIDQ or registered architect) preferred.
