Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System, Reno, NV, seeks an Interior Designer at GS-11 level to design interior environments, develop standards, and lead space planning and project coordination within the Facilities Management Service.

The role requires coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines and delivering designs that meet health, safety, and welfare standards.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in design and alteration of interior spaces.
• Knowledge of interior construction, codes, materials and furnishings.
• Education that covers interior design concepts or NCIDQ certification with transcripts submitted.

Responsibilities

• Create and design interior environments to promote productivity and welfare.
• Develop and implement interior design standards and long-term projects.
• Prepare drawings, floor plans, finish schedules and cost estimates for each project.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines within interior contexts and review construction documents.
• Provide consulting on codes and materials for renovations and new construction.
• Address ergonomic issues and space planning with facility planners.
