Gray AES is seeking an Interior Designer II to join our design team in Lexington, KY or Charlotte, NC. This mid-level position focuses on developing interior concepts and coordinating with project teams to produce construction documents for commercial spaces.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s in Architecture or Interior Design with 3–5 years of experience and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and MS Office, along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and integrate with existing team.
  • Must be physically present in a Gray office.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of design trends, construction methods and material applications.
  • Produce interior details for construction documents including finish installation and specialty lighting.
  • Create presentations and construction documents for customers and subcontractors.
  • Assist in project coordination between teams, customers, vendors, and consultants.
  • Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, and within budget.

Qualifications

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

  • Knowledge of design trends, construction methods and materials applications.
  • Participate in material finish selections and finish schedule.
  • Assist in selection and specification of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) within a project budget

  • Produce interior details for construction documents inclusive of specialty finish installation, specialty casework and specialty lighting.
  • Perform site survey, field measurements and documentation.Create presentations and construction documents for customers, construction personnel, sub-consultants and design-build subcontractors to convey design intent.
  • Assist in administration, review, and coordination of project submittals.
  • Base knowledge of appropriate use and application of finish materials.
  • Working knowledge of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), experience in selection and specification with commercial furniture preferred.
  • Assist in project coordination between project teams, customers, vendors, contractors, and consultants.
  • Develop innovative design concepts which are practical, aesthetic, safe, functional, and conducive of customer goals and with project budget.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
