Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an Interior Designer with a design/technical focus to join a multi-disciplinary team on a 2.0+ million sq ft Mayo Clinic healthcare facility project. You will collaborate with design and technical leadership and contribute across programming through construction administration stages.

Required are a Bachelor or Master in Interior Design/Interior Architecture with at least 4 years of related experience; NCIDQ preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
  • Current NCIDQ certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with project goals across all phases.
  • Assist in developing the design including planning and 3D studies.
  • Independently assist in design development and documentation of interior spaces.
  • Support Senior Designer with FFE selection, layout and specifications.
  • Produce drawings in conformance with time, cost, and quality constraints.
  • Identify and apply building and life safety codes to interior work.
  • Prepare renderings and presentation materials.
  • Participate in client meetings to gain interaction experience.
  • Contribute to construction administration and site visits.

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position will have a design or technical focus and be a member of our multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with design and technical leadership and will be an integral part of project teams. Your initial assignment will be on a 2.0+ million square foot healthcare facility at Mayo Clinic's campus. Under the direct supervision of designated project leadership, the primary responsibilities will include the following:

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • With limited direction, Assist Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager with the execution of the project goals throughout all phases (Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration).
  • Assist in the development of the design including planning and three-dimensional studies.
  • Independently assist in the design development and documentation of interior spaces to include drawings of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, pattern designs, elevations, details, etc.
  • Provide support to the Senior Interior Designer with furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) selection, layout and specifications throughout all phases of interior design work, as required.
  • Produce drawings in conformance with project time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Identify, research and apply building and life safety codes to applicable interior design work.
  • Prepare renderings and other presentation materials.
  • Follow CannonDesign drawing standards.
  • Participate in client meetings with Senior Interior Designer to gain client interaction and presentation experience.
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including site visits, review of submittals and shop drawings, and conducting punch list. Site visits frequently require a physical walk-through of site.
  • Mentor less experienced interior design staff and provide guidance in the development of project documents.
  • Actively participate and promote design quality.
  • Understand proper application of materials.
  • May perform other duties as required.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or relevant field required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience required.
  • Current NCIDQ certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to participate the development of projects' technical or design characteristics and content.
  • Strong creative design portfolio is essential as are strong communication, teamwork, presentation, graphics, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite required.
  • Professional business attire is required for all client meetings. Examples of professional business attire include suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts.
  • Travel required.
NOTE ABOUT COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position to be filled in the Chicago, IL or Buffalo, NY office is $57,905 to $72,335 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses. We offer a full benefit package including medical, dental and vision coverage and flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances. We have paid time off, flex-time schedules, remote work options and a 401k plan and employee perk programs.
