Job summary

University of South Alabama is seeking an Interior Designer I on the Main Campus to support Senior staff with design development, space planning, and project coordination across in-house, capital, and selected outsourced projects.

The role involves creating digital content, presentations, and finish palettes, coordinating across Maintenance, Utilities, and Risk Management, and contributing from concept through installation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or interior architecture from an accredited institution and one year of experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Experience in higher education and/or healthcare project management is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative support to Senior Interior Design staff for all projects.
• Performs interior design space planning (AutoCAD) and coordinates projects.
• Manages interior finishes, furnishings, signage, and space planning.
• Develops digital project furniture and finish packages.
• Prepares scaled floor plans, elevations, and signage artwork for review.
• Coordinates design/material selections with multiple university departments.
• Creates and updates digital presentations, material boards, and design documentation.
• Supports space planning and furniture layout development.
• Assists with research related to materials, furniture, and codes.
• Produces interior renderings and visual boards using design software.
