Job description

We are seeking an Interior Designer with at least 2 years of professional experience to help grow the interiors side of our practice. We welcome candidates with significantly more experience and will shape responsibility and compensation accordingly. The ideal candidate understands that great residential interiors sit at the intersection of architecture, materials, furniture, construction, and the way people actually live.

This is not purely a decorating role. You will move comfortably between concept development, interior drawings, material and fixture selections, client presentations, finish schedules, vendor coordination, and construction-site conversations. The right person will have a strong eye and equally strong follow-through.

What You Will Do

• Develop interior concepts, material palettes, mood boards, and client presentations.
• Create space plans, furniture layouts, interior elevations, and other design drawings.
• Design and develop kitchens, bathrooms, cabinetry, built-ins, fireplaces, millwork, and other architectural interior elements.
• Select and specify tile, stone, flooring, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, paint, wallcoverings, and architectural finishes.
• Source and specify furniture, rugs, window treatments, decorative lighting, art, accessories, and other FF&E.
• Create and maintain finish schedules, fixture schedules, furniture schedules, specifications, and decision logs.
• Coordinate selections with architectural drawings, budgets, lead times, and construction requirements.
• Obtain pricing, samples, and technical information from vendors, showrooms, fabricators, and suppliers.
• Participate in client presentations, showroom visits, sourcing trips, site meetings, and installations.
• Support procurement, order tracking, delivery coordination, returns, damage resolution, and installation where included in project scope.
• Build and maintain relationships with local and national trade resources, craftspeople, showrooms, and vendors.
• Help develop PSA's growing interiors library, vendor database, procurement systems, and interior-design standards.

What We Are Looking For

• At least 2 years of professional interior design, interior architecture, or closely related experience; candidates with greater experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Degree (or considerable experience) in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related design field.
• Residential experience strongly preferred; high-end residential experience is especially valuable.
• Strong understanding of scale, proportion, color, materials, lighting, texture, pattern, and furniture planning.
• Ability to produce or confidently work with floor plans, interior elevations, cabinetry drawings, and millwork details.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required; Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools are valuable.
• Knowledge of FF&E sourcing, specification, trade resources, and the procurement process.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to track many small decisions without losing the overall design direction.
• Excellent communication with clients, architects, contractors, vendors, and craftspeople.
• Ability to balance creativity with budget, availability, lead times, maintenance, and construction realities.
• NCIDQ certification is not required.

Compensation & Application

Compensation starts at $75,000 and generally falls between $75,000-$115,000. Candidates with greater experience may be considered above this range. Benefits include paid time off, a retirement contribution, and an employer contribution toward health insurance.
