Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart Inc. is seeking an Interior Designer to plan, design and furnish residential and commercial spaces. You will visit clients, measure spaces, and translate style preferences into practical layouts and color schemes.

In this role you’ll sell on the floor, collaborate with clients on investments, and present comprehensive plans for approval. A design degree and retail experience help you thrive in our fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred.
• 3 years of retail sales experience. ASID membership preferred
• Broad knowledge of furniture and furniture styles preferred
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Basic PC skills preferred
• Proofreading skills preferred
• Ability to work night and/or weekends based on business needs
• Pre-employment screening includes, but isn’t limited to, criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Advise on space planning, layout and color coordination to ensure practical and esthetically pleasing designs

• Follow up with clients to confirm satisfaction of all designer services

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

• Sell: Circulate the sales floor and approach customers in a timely manner

• Plan: Provide in-home services to collect accurate measurements for floor coverings, lighting, furniture, accessories and window treatments
• Advise: Counsel client on space planning, layout and color coordination to ensure practical and esthetically pleasing designs
• Present: Lay out all floor, furniture, lighting and budget plans for client approval
• Order: Purchase furnishings, art works, area rugs, accessories etc.
• Follow-up: Reach out to the client to confirm satisfaction of all designer services
