Job summary

Ford Custom Build is seeking an Interior Designer to translate clients' visions into detailed, functional spaces. You will collaborate with clients, project managers, contractors, and trade partners to maintain the design intent throughout each project phase.

The ideal candidate combines creativity with organization, excels at technical drawing and space planning using Chief Architect, and can manage multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Degree or formal education in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Chief Architect preferred; however, candidates with experience using comparable residential design, drafting, or CAD software will also be considered.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to Ford Custom Build's software and technology platforms as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and residential design.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients to understand their vision, needs, lifestyle, and design preferences.
  • Develop interior design concepts, selections, and presentations.
  • Create cohesive design plans for kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, bedrooms, and other residential areas.
  • Select and specify furniture, fixtures, finishes, materials, lighting, plumbing, hardware, and accessories.
  • Source products and materials from appropriate vendors and trade partners.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed product specifications and selection documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, architects, and trade partners to ensure design intent is communicated accurately.
  • Visit job sites to review progress and ensure design details are being executed correctly.
  • Communicate product information, specifications, and installation requirements to the appropriate team members.
  • Assist with purchasing and ensure selections are accurately documented.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Help create a polished and elevated client experience throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with the team to troubleshoot design or product-related issues as they arise.
  • Stay current on interior design trends, materials, products, and industry resources.

Position Overview

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our team. This person will work closely with clients, project managers, contractors, and trade partners to develop beautiful, functional spaces while ensuring the design vision is carried through each stage of the project.

The ideal candidate is creative and design-focused while also being highly organized, communicative, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines. This role requires someone who can take ownership of their work, pay close attention to details, and work collaboratively with a team.

The ideal candidate will also possess strong technical drawing and space-planning capabilities, with the ability to develop accurate floor plans, elevations, detailed design drawings, and 3D renderings using Chief Architect. Proficiency in comparable residential design/CAD software with the ability to quickly learn Chief Architect will also be considered
