Job summary

Perdue Office Interiors, a Suddath Company, is seeking an experienced interior designer for on-site Melbourne, FL with hybrid options. The role focuses on designing and specifying furniture systems, walls, and finishes for commercial spaces, coordinating with sales and clients to deliver within budget and schedule.

The candidate will lead space planning, measure sites, prepare drawings, and develop installation documents while ensuring compliance with codes and project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in design or architecture from a 4-year college or university required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in office furniture/interiors or related field; or equivalent.
• Experience designing and specifying furniture and systems; knowledge of Configura CET highly preferred.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, CET, and related design tools.
• Knowledge of demountable architectural walls, modular casegoods, and space planning.

Responsibilities

• Consult with sales on layout, design and space planning of furniture specifications.
• Field measure client spaces and translate requirements into detailed plans.
• Produce as-built drawings, block plans, space plans and finish selections for installation.
• Create quotes and assist in pricing, fabric and finish selections.
• Coordinate with architects and engineers; review plans for code compliance (ADA).
• Prepare installation drawings and electrical location coordination for field teams.
• Provide on-site inspections to verify build-out against drawings and specs.
• Develop project specifications and manage revisions and entry data (CET/SIF).
• Present material and finish options to clients and support sales with proposals.

This is an on-site position at our Melbourne location. We offer a hybrid work mode, 4 days in office and 1 day remote.

Responsibilities include design, space planning, layout, and specifications of commercial office furniture and systems products and architectural walls. Coordinate and implement detailed space plans to address customer space requirements within allotted time and budget constraints in support of all sales and marketing efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Consult with sales team on the layout, design and space planning of furniture specifications for client offices.
• Travel to client’s location to field measure layout.
• Perform programming, space planning, furniture selection, layout, product pricing, design and selection of fabrics and finishes, including as-built drawings, block plans, space plans and finished working drawings for specification and installation.
• Material & Color Selections- Furniture: Research, Selection & Specifications.
• Accurately create quotes for client’s approval.
• Provides professional customer interface by attending client planning meetings to determine furniture needs and develops solutions to meet these needs.
• Offers technical design and creative consultation to customers by answering both routine and highly specialized questions regarding furniture.
• Coordinate, develop, and review proposed project designs and construction plans.
• Prepare presentation material including digital color finish.
• Review job site in order to perform accurate measurements.
• Will do plan-to-site adherence checks.
• Validate plans against construction, electrical engineering and Architect & Design (A&D) drawing sets.
• Develop project specifications, double check specifications against plans, verify specifications against plans, assure specifications are ready for order entry (CET/SIF file), and manage changes and revisions.
• Prepare installation drawings for field personnel.
• Coordinate electrical locations.
• Provide on-site job inspections comparing construction drawings to final build-out.
• Work with installers to ensure installation meets customer specifications; complete punchlists.

Job Skills Required

• Three to five years’ experience with furniture product knowledge, furniture design and furniture specification software – knowledge of Configura CET highly preferred.
• Three to five years furniture dealership experience required Computer literate (AutoCAD, Revit, Configura CET, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, Photoshop and SketchUp).
• Configura CET experience highly preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in designing and specifying demountable architectural wall products and modular casework highly preferred.
• Knowledge in space planning, typical development and input of systems furniture, demountable architectural walls and modular casegood layouts into AutoCAD, Revit, and Configura CET.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes, ADA regulations.
• Energetics and strong customer service skills with a desire to go above & beyond to assist others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented, organized and ability to work with mathematical concepts.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize & initiate action in a timely manner.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in design or architecture from 4-year college or university required.

Interior Design degree from an accredited university preferred.

Minimum three years professional experience in the office furniture/interiors or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.

Knowledge of systems furniture and experience in customer interaction.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of AutoCAD 2014-16, CET, Giza, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop and SketchUp.

Certificates and Licenses: NCIDQ, FL Interior Design License or LEED highly recommended but not required.
