Job summary

The Suddath Companies is seeking an experienced Account Executive to drive new business, nurture legacy accounts, and coordinate multi‑phase furniture and design projects from quote to installation.

You will partner with internal teams, travel to client sites, conduct needs assessments, deliver design‑aligned solutions, and ensure timely, high‑quality project execution.

Qualifications

General position summary:

Perdue is a leading provider of innovative workplace solutions, specializing in designing and furnishing office spaces to enhance productivity, collaboration, and well‑being. The Account Executive is the cornerstone of our client engagement strategy. This role demands a versatile sales professional who excels in generating new business, nurturing legacy accounts, and converting qualified opportunities provided by our Business Development team. This is a full‑cycle sales role requiring a consultative approach, deep knowledge of the contract furniture industry, and the ability to lead clients through a complex buying process. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on balancing pursuit with precision—developing strategy for long sales cycles, while managing every detail with rigor. Your ability to orchestrate internal and external stakeholders, from design to delivery, is essential to driving customer satisfaction and account growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Own and grow legacy client relationships, identifying new projects and areas for expansion.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing product information, and offering solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Conduct regular check‑ins with clients to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling or cross‑selling.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales targets and maximize revenue growth.
  • Pursue new business opportunities through proactive prospecting and by leveraging qualified leads from the Business Development Manager.
  • Conduct needs assessments and deliver strategic, design‑aligned furniture solutions.
  • Navigate and manage complex, multi‑phase sales processes, including quoting, design collaboration, and order fulfillment.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, and competitive offerings.
  • Provide product demonstrations and training sessions to clients, helping them understand the capabilities and benefits of Steelcase solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal project managers, design teams, and installers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution, from initial consultation to final installation.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation and forecasting via CRM tools.
  • Work closely with project managers to oversee the delivery and installation process, ensuring timelines are met and quality standards are upheld.
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by clients during the project lifecycle, resolving them promptly and effectively.
Job Skills Required:
  • Proven experience in sales, account management, or business development, preferably in the furniture or interior design industry.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand client needs and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving targets.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field (preferred).

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Operations:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS (Human Resources Information System), timekeeping and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

Planning/Organization:

Ability to prioritize and re‑prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday; Ability to multi‑task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work.
