Job summary

VMDO Architects in Charlottesville is seeking a Junior Interior Designer to join our team under the supervision of a Lead Interior Designer. The role emphasizes strong interpersonal skills and collaboration across design disciplines.

You will generate design and construction models using Revit and SketchUp, assist in studies, visualizations, and presentations, and help integrate sustainable design solutions into projects; NCIDQ preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of professional experience in the field.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • Familiarity with Revit or SketchUp.
  • NCIDQ certification preferred.

Job description

VMDO Architects is seeking a creative problem-solver to join our Charlottesville office as a Junior Interior Designer. This position will work under the direct supervision of an experienced Lead Interior Designer and is ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Generating design and construction models using Revit and SketchUp
  • Assisting in development of studies, visualizations, presentations, and reports
  • Incorporating sustainable design research and solutions into projects
  • Working closely with design teams and consultants to ensure coordinated and constructible designs
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in the field
  • A degree in Interior Design or Architecture (Bachelor’s or Master’s)
  • Familiarity with Revit or SketchUp
  • Preferred candidates will have or be working toward NCIDQ certification
