Job summary

Strongwood is seeking an experienced Interior Design Project Manager to lead the interior design process for luxury homes, waterfront retreats, and distinctive residential projects in Wisconsin.

You will manage design from initial concept through construction, guiding client selections, coordinating with architects and trade partners, and ensuring budgets and timelines are met with exceptional client service.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of residential interior design experience, preferably with custom homes or luxury projects.
  • Strong knowledge of interior materials, cabinetry, finishes, and space planning.
  • Experience coordinating with architects and construction professionals.
  • Excellent client communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings and coordinating with construction professionals.
  • Proficiency with design and project management software.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clients through all interior design selections, including cabinetry, countertops, flooring, lighting, plumbing fixtures, paint colors, tile, hardware, trim, and finish details.
  • Prepare and organize design presentations, inspiration boards, and finish schedules.
  • Coordinate product selections, samples, specifications, and ordering information.
  • Ensure every design decision aligns with project budgets, timelines, and construction requirements.
  • Lead client meetings and document design consultations and selection appointments.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and the Strongwood design team to refine project details.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate permits, procurement schedules, and material lead times.

Strongwood is seeking an experienced, creative, and client-focused Interior Design Project Manager to lead the interior design process for luxury custom homes, waterfront retreats, and distinctive residential projects.

This role is ideal for an interior designer who enjoys building strong client relationships while managing projects from initial design through construction completion. You will lead clients through every interior finish and material selection, collaborate closely with our architects, designers, and construction professionals, and ensure every detail is thoughtfully planned before construction begins.

As one of the primary client contacts, you'll combine design expertise with organizational, budgeting, and leadership skills to create exceptional experiences and deliver remarkable homes.

What You'll Do
  • Lead clients through all interior design selections, including cabinetry, countertops, flooring, lighting, plumbing fixtures, paint colors, tile, hardware, trim, and finish details
  • Prepare and organize design presentations, inspiration boards, and finish schedules
  • Coordinate product selections, samples, specifications, and ordering information
  • Ensure every design decision aligns with project budgets, timelines, and construction requirements
Client Experience
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the interior design process
  • Build lasting relationships through exceptional communication, professionalism, and customer service
  • Lead and document client meetings, design consultations, and selection appointments
Project Planning & Coordination
  • Review construction drawings for design accuracy, constructability, and cost impacts
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and the Strongwood design team to refine project details
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to verify product availability, lead times, and specifications
Budget & Project Management
  • Develop and manage project budgets and design allowances
  • Prepare proposals and track project costs throughout the design process
  • Manage change orders and maintain accurate project documentation
  • Lead internal planning meetings and coordinate with project managers and field teams
  • Work closely with trade partners to ensure design intent is executed accurately
  • Coordinate material deliveries, finish schedules, and installation sequencing
  • Support construction teams by answering design questions and resolving field conditions
Organization & Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and key milestones
  • Keep project files, specifications, selections, and documentation organized and current
  • Coordinate permits, procurement schedules, and material lead times
  • Ensure projects transition seamlessly from design into construction
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of residential interior design experience, preferably with custom homes or luxury residential projects
  • Strong knowledge of interior materials, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, plumbing fixtures, finishes, and space planning
  • Experience creating cohesive interior design concepts and guiding clients through selections
  • Excellent client communication and presentation skills
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings and coordinating with construction professionals
  • Strong budgeting, organizational, and project management abilities
  • Proficiency with design and project management software
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Degree in Interior Design or a related field preferred
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in luxury residential or waterfront home design
  • Knowledge of construction detailing and residential building systems
  • Experience working with architects, builders, and trade partners
  • Familiarity with procurement, vendor coordination, and product specifications
  • Passion for creating exceptional client experiences and beautifully crafted homes
