Job summary

ARCO is seeking an Interior Design Intern for a hands-on role in our St. Louis area office (Richmond Heights). You will support interior designers with space planning, floor plans, elevations, and finish selections while collaborating with project managers and architects across all phases.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an Architectural degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA and have internship/coop experience; proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, and Photoshop is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Architectural Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Previous internship or coop experience preferred.
• Experience with Revit/AutoCAD/Enscape/Photoshop is nice but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with space planning to enhance function, safety, and aesthetics.
• Generate interior architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations and details for permits and construction docs.
• Incorporate material specifications and schedules for bids and final specs.
• Update material library and meet with product representatives.
• Prepare presentation materials including colored plans, elevations, 3D renderings, finish palettes.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects and other design disciplines through all phases.
• Advise clients on interior design factors such as space planning, layout, furnishings, and color coordination.
• Review product submittals related to interior finishes.

ABOUT YOU

We’re adding an Interior Design Intern to our team in St. Louis (Richmond Heights). GMA partners with a top ENR design-build firm to provide services including creative design, project management, ADA/code compliance, building assessment and reuse, additions and renovations, historic preservation, master planning, interior design, space planning, structural analysis and design, and construction administration.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

At GMA, an Intern has the opportunity to assist Interior Designers with the following:

• Assist with space planning to enhance function, safety, and aesthetics of interior

• Work with the team to generate interior architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations and details for both permit and construction document

• Incorporate corresponding material specifications and schedules related to architectural documents for use in bidding and final specifications

• Assist in updating material library and meet with product manufacturer’s representatives

• Collaborate with team members to prepare presentation materials as required, including but not limited to colored plans, colored elevations, 3D renderings, digital and physical finish palettes

• Coordinate with construction project managers, architects, and other design disciplines as necessary through all phases of the project

• Work with designers to advise client on interior design factors such as space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination

• Review of product submittals related to interior finishes

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• Enrolled in Architectural Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, with a minimum 3.0 GPA

• Previous Internship or Coop experience preferred

• Internship or classwork experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape and Photoshop preferred but not required
