Job summary

GMA Architects in St. Louis (Richmond Heights) is seeking an Interior Design Intern to assist experienced designers in space planning, floor plans, elevations, and finish selections.

You’ll collaborate on materials, renderings, and client presentations while coordinating with the project team across all phases. The internship targets architecture students pursuing a degree, with preference for prior internships and experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, and Photoshop, though not strictly

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in Architectural Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Previous internship or coop experience preferred.
  • Internship or classwork experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape and Photoshop preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Interior Designers with space planning to enhance function, safety, and aesthetics.
  • Generate interior architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations and details.
  • Incorporate material specifications and schedules for bidding and final specs.
  • Update material library and meet with product manufacturers’ reps.
  • Prepare presentation materials including colored plans, elevations, 3D renderings and finish palettes.
  • Coordinate with PMs, architects, and other disciplines through all project phases.
  • Advise clients on interior design factors such as layout and furnishings usage, color coordination.
  • Review product submittals related to interior finishes.

We're adding an Interior Design Intern to our team in St. Louis (Richmond Heights). GMA partners with a top ENR design-build firm to provide services including creative design, project management, ADA/code compliance, building assessment and reuse, additions and renovations, historic preservation, master planning, interior design, space planning, structural analysis and design, and construction administration.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

At GMA, an Intern has the opportunity to assist Interior Designers with the following:

  • Assist with space planning to enhance function, safety, and aesthetics of interior
  • Work with the team to generate interior architectural floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations and details for both permit and construction document
  • Incorporate corresponding material specifications and schedules related to architectural documents for use in bidding and final specifications
  • Assist in updating material library and meet with product manufacturer’s representatives
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare presentation materials as required, including but not limited to colored plans, colored elevations, 3D renderings, digital and physical finish palettes
  • Coordinate with construction project managers, architects, and other design disciplines as necessary through all phases of the project
  • Work with designers to advise client on interior design factors such as space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination
  • Review of product submittals related to interior finishes
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Enrolled in Architectural Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Previous Internship or Coop experience preferred
  • Internship or classwork experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape and Photoshop preferred but not required
