Job summary

Progressive Companies in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Interior Designer to produce coordinated design deliverables and contract drawings using Revit or AutoCAD. You will create renderings with SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign for client reviews and assist in selecting furnishings.

You will liaise with clients, attend site visits, and report deviations to the Project Manager while building knowledge of codes and LEED guidelines. Pursuing NCIDQ and growing with a client-focused team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or equivalent in education and experience required for professional certification.
  • 0-5 years of post-graduate interior design professional experience.
  • Working toward certification with strong commitment to continuous learning. Must be committed to Interior Design Staff passing the National Council of Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ)

Responsibilities

  • Produce coordinated, presentation-ready design deliverables using Revit or AutoCAD; assist in selecting furniture, fixtures, and finishes; prepare renderings and presentation materials using SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign for client design reviews.
  • Act as a reliable liaison between the design team and clients; attend site visits and field reviews; communicate design ideas clearly to clients and project teams; report schedule or budget deviations to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  • Build a working foundation in codes, sustainability, and QA/QC; develop understanding of building codes, LEED and universal design guidelines; contribute to QA/QC processes on projects.
  • Progress toward NCIDQ certification while ramping up on firm standards; build proficiency in Revit/CAD standards and documentation; maintain active progress toward NCIDQ exams.

Job description

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

  1. Produce coordinated, presentation-ready design deliverables. Create and coordinate contract drawing sets using Revit or AutoCAD, assist in selecting furniture, fixtures, and finishes, and prepare renderings and presentation materials using SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign for client design reviews.
  2. Act as a reliable liaison between the design team and clients. Attend site visits and field reviews, communicate design ideas clearly to clients and project teams, and report schedule or budget deviations to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
  3. Build a working foundation in codes, sustainability, and QA/QC. Develop a working understanding of applicable building codes, LEED and universal design guidelines, and contribute to the team's quality assurance/quality control process on assigned projects.
  4. Progress toward NCIDQ certification while ramping up on firm standards. Within your first year, build proficiency in the firm's Revit/CAD standards and documentation process, and maintain active progress toward passing the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exams.
  5. Grow as a collaborative, client-focused team member. Participate in "Lessons Learned" sessions and professional development activities, stay current on furnishings trends, and bring initiative to new responsibilities as your skills and confidence grow.

Qualifications

Licensure and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or equivalent in education and experience required for professional certification.

Technological Skills

  • Competent in Revit/AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign that displays a creative talent in conceptual design and rendering.
  • Competent technical, written and oral communication skills, including preparing for and performing presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
