Three Design Build is one of Kansas City’s most exciting and rapidly growing luxury design-build firms. We create highly personalized, one-of-a-kind homes where architecture, interior design, construction, and the client experience come together under one roof.
We aren’t interested in building houses that look like everyone else’s. We design and build homes around the people who live in them—and we believe the process should be just as exceptional as the finished product.
We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of that experience.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an Interior Design & Client Experience Manager to join our team and play a critical role in taking our clients from design concept to finished home.
This is a highly collaborative, hands‑on position that combines interior design, material selections, client management, purchasing, scheduling, invoicing, project coordination, networking, and business development.
You will work closely with our architects, designers, project managers, builders, vendors, subcontractors, and—most importantly—our clients.
This is not a traditional interior design position.
We need someone who can walk into a room, understand the vision, make a great design decision, keep a project organized, communicate confidently with a client, negotiate with a vendor, and then go out that evening and build relationships that could lead to the next project.
What You’ll Do
Interior Design & Selections
- Develop and coordinate interior finish selections for luxury custom homes.
- Assist clients in making selections that reflect their personal style, lifestyle, and budget.
- Coordinate flooring, tile, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances, hardware, cabinetry, paint, wallpaper, and other interior finishes.
- Create selection presentations and assist with design boards, samples, and finish packages.
- Maintain consistency between architectural plans, interior design, and construction.
- Stay current on luxury residential design trends, products, materials, and vendors.
Client Experience
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients throughout the selections process.
- Lead and coordinate client selection meetings.
- Help clients navigate decisions while keeping projects moving forward.
- Communicate professionally and proactively with clients, vendors, and the internal team.
- Create an experience that makes clients feel confident, informed, and excited about their home.
Scheduling & Project Coordination
- Coordinate selection deadlines and maintain project schedules.
- Work closely with project managers and construction teams to ensure selections are made in time to keep projects moving.
- Track lead times and identify potential issues before they become construction problems.
- Coordinate deliveries, installations, and vendor schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of selections and project decisions.
Purchasing & Invoicing
- Prepare and manage purchase orders.
- Coordinate purchasing with vendors and suppliers.
- Track pricing, quantities, lead times, and delivery dates.
- Review invoices for accuracy.
- Coordinate client billing and internal accounting requirements.
- Maintain organized project documentation and purchasing records.
Networking & Business Development
- Build strong relationships with designers, architects, vendors, real estate professionals, developers, and other industry partners.
- Represent Three Design Build at industry events, networking functions, showrooms, and community events.
- Develop relationships that lead to new opportunities for the company.
- Help introduce potential clients to the Three Design Build experience.
- Actively promote our design capabilities and help grow our interior design business.
- Become a recognizable and trusted representative of the Three Design Build brand within the Kansas City design and real estate community.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Creative — You have great taste and can confidently make design recommendations.
- Organized — You can manage dozens of details without losing track of the big picture.
- Personable — You genuinely enjoy people and building relationships.
- Confident — You can make recommendations, have difficult conversations, and stand behind your decisions.
- Driven — You don’t need someone constantly telling you what needs to be done.
- Collaborative — You understand that great homes are built by great teams.
- Business-minded — You understand that design decisions also affect budgets, schedules, purchasing, and profitability.
- Sales-oriented — You aren’t afraid to network, build relationships, ask for the business, and sell the value of great design.
- Detail-oriented — You notice the things other people miss.
- Fun — You enjoy working hard, celebrating wins, laughing with your coworkers, and being part of a team.
Culture Matters
This is a big one.
We’re building something special at Three Design Build, and culture is not something we are willing to compromise.
We work hard, but we have a lot of fun doing it. We celebrate each other’s wins. We collaborate instead of competing internally. We want people who bring energy into the room, not people who suck it out.
The right person for this position will be someone who can sit down with a client and discuss $100,000 worth of finishes in the morning, spend the afternoon solving a scheduling problem with a project manager, stop by a showroom on the way home, and then join the team for drinks or dinner because they genuinely enjoy the people they work with.
If you’re looking for a quiet job where you sit at a desk and wait for someone to tell you what to do, this probably isn’t it.
If you’re ambitious, creative, social, competitive, organized, and want to help build something bigger than yourself, we should talk.
