Position Summary
The Senior Interior Construction Designer based in Louisville, KY, leads and develops the IC design team. This role involves ongoing training, delivering high-quality work, meeting deadlines, and supporting junior staff. The designer manages full solution projects, engages with clients, proposes pre-fabricated construction solutions, and provides feedback during on-site verifications.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years in interior design or commercial construction, including 2 years in commercial projects
- Bachelor's degree in interior design or architecture
- KYCID and NCIDQ certifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or REVIT
- Knowledge of interior design processes, pre-fabricated construction, and construction documentation
- Strong understanding of construction processes, real estate, and site conditions
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ICE, BlueBeam (training provided), and collaboration tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse project stakeholders
- Basic knowledge of architectural elements, lighting, electrical, HVAC, and building fundamentals
- Experience with pre-fabricated wall solutions is advantageous
Major Functions
- Design space plans and propose pre-fabricated construction solutions
- Specify and price design solutions accurately
- Enhance skills continuously in product knowledge, software, and trends
- Collaborate with ID and FF&E designers on projects
- Ensure project flow and customer satisfaction through adherence to processes
- Apply problem-solving to improve relationships and project outcomes
Essential Duties
- Review space plans with project teams
- Convert architect plans into pre-fabricated wall solutions using ICE (training provided)
- Coordinate with A&D firms on scope finalization
- Create final production files and order documentation
- Pre-review order files and provide technical guidance
- Understand and apply local codes
- Promote pre-fabricated solutions to clients
- Manage finishes and custom requests
- Develop SD packages with pricing and renderings in ICE
- Design around site conditions and constraints
- Coordinate project design and construction plans
- Create shop drawings and submittals
- Verify specifications and manage revisions
- Utilize CAP + CORE programs for ordering and punch processes
- Conduct on-site inspections and coordinate with installation teams
- Track design hours for costing
- Review production drawings for accuracy
- Organize and submit orders for approval
- Support the design lead as needed
