Job Description: Level 2 Interior Construction Designer (2-4 years)

Position Overview
The Senior Designer based in Louisville, KY, oversees and develops the Interior Construction (IC) design team. The role involves ongoing training, delivering high-quality work for internal and external clients, meeting critical deadlines, and supporting junior designers. The Senior Interior Construction Designer handles full solution projects, meets with clients, proposes pre-fabricated construction/wall design solutions, and provides on-site feedback.
Education, Experience, and Attributes
- Minimum three years’ experience in interior design or commercial construction, including at least two years in commercial projects
- Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture
- KYCID (Preferred)
- NCIDQ Certification (Preferred)
- Proficient in AutoCAD or REVIT
- Intermediate knowledge of interior design processes, pre-fabricated construction/walls, and deliverables
- Strong understanding of construction processes, real estate market, and job site conditions
- Ability to read construction documents and specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including OneDrive, Teams, and Outlook
- Proficient in ICE + BlueBeam (training available)
- High sense of urgency, efficient multitasking, and quick thinking
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with project stakeholders and pre-fabricated construction teams
- Understanding of interior construction, architectural elements, lighting, electrical, HVAC, and basic base-building knowledge
- Previous knowledge of pre-fabricated construction/walls solutions, layers, installation, and their integration is an asset
Major Functions
- Design space plans and holistic pre-fabricated construction/walls solutions for customers
- Specify and price design solutions accurately
- Continuously improve skills in product knowledge, software, trends, and processes
- Collaborate with ID and FF&E Designers on projects
- Adhere to internal processes to ensure smooth project flow and customer satisfaction
- Use problem-solving skills to enhance relationships with customers
- Perform design duties related to pre-fabricated construction/walls for assigned projects
- Improve skills across various areas to meet evolving demands
Essential Duties
- Review space plans with the project team
- Convert architect’s plans into pre-fabricated construction/walls solutions using ICE (training provided)
- Work with A&D firms to finalize scope
- Create final production files for orders
- Pre-review order files before entry
- Provide technical and design guidance for pre-fabricated construction/walls
- Understand local building codes
- Promote and position pre-fabricated construction/walls solutions
- Manage finish/materials and custom requests
- Create SD packages with pricing and renderings in ICE
- Assess site conditions and design around issues
- Coordinate and review project designs and plans
- Design client projects using appropriate software, starting from scratch or pre-designed plans
- Validate plans against construction, electrical, and architectural drawings
- Create shop drawings and submittals
- Check specifications against plans, manage revisions, and ensure readiness for order entry
- Utilize CAP + CORE programs for ordering and punch processes
- Conduct on-site inspections comparing construction to drawings
- Track design hours for job costing
- Work with installers and project management to ensure quality installation
- Review all production information and drawings for accuracy
- Organize and submit/review orders before OE
- Support your design lead as needed
- Collaborate with A&D firms to finalize scope
- Understand and work around site conditions
