Job summary

Contechs is seeking a dynamic Design & Release Engineer (DRE) - Interior Cockpit to join our client’s growing team in Michigan. You will lead cockpit components development, validation and integration, ensuring FMVSS compliance and target performance across IP carrier, trims, and finish components.

Responsibilities include APQP-driven development, coordinating safety testing with internal and external teams, and managing PPAP documentation from concept to launch.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field required; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years in automotive cockpit system engineering.
• Experience with FMVSS, IIHS or other regulatory validations.
• Experience releasing components in PLM and handling engineering changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety validation and launch of cockpit components (bins, trims, glove box, panels).
• Coordinate testing (DVP, FMVSS) at component and system levels with internal and external teams.
• Ensure packaging compatibility, interfaces, and system functionality across cockpit.
• Drive product development, material selection, tooling reviews, and supplier reviews.
