Job summary

The Building People is seeking an experienced Interior Architect for a prominent federal agency in the Washington, DC area. The role focuses on interior design, construction planning, and documentation for tenant improvements and restacking of government office spaces.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, read drawings, develop construction documents, and ensure compliance with OSHA/ADA and related codes. Travel nationwide is required.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years minimum experience in commercial interior design for tenant improvements.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings.
• Experience creating construction documents and plans for projects.
• Familiarity with office furniture lines and casegoods/systems furniture specs.
• Space planning experience for government/commercial office space.
• NCIDQ or NCARB certification completed.
• Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred.
• Background in federal government office planning.
• Background checks and possible security clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Gather information, interface with stakeholders, and prepare documentation guiding interior design functions.
• Apply OSHA, ADA requirements and building codes.
• Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Present data and plans to stakeholders in person or via email/phone.

We are, however, accepting applications for this anticipated need. The Building People has a position for a full-time Interior Architect in a prominent federal agency in the Washington, DC area. The successful candidate will have a solid background in all aspects of interior design and related construction planning and development. The team is actively involved in small and large project design development, construction document preparation and project execution of unique projects. This position requires travel in the Continental United States. Responsibilities/Duties
• Gather information, interface with all stakeholders, and prepare documentation guiding interior design functions related to various project. Apply OSHA and ADA requirements, and all building and safety codes.
• Work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Present data and plans to all stakeholders- both in person and via email, phone and other means of communication media.
• 10-15 years minimum experience in commercial Interior design for tenant improvements, restacking and interior build out of new and existing spaces
• Ability to read and understand architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for construction projects.
• Ability to create architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for construction projects
• Familiarity with commercial office furniture lines and have a working knowledge of both casegoods and systems furniture specification.
• Working knowledge of space planning and interior design for commercial/government office space. Working knowledge of selection of interior finishes and materials.
• Ability to carry on business conversations with decision makers and to interact and cooperate with all stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, both individually and as a team player. Excellent quantitative, analytic, and process mapping skills.
• Expertise with AutoCAD 2015 or higher.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software - Project, Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook.
• Proficient in SmartSheets software.
• Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task and respond in quick time frames.
• Successful completion of the NCIDQ or NCARB certifications.
• Background in commercial or Federal government office planning Preferred Experience

• A minimum of a BS/BA architecture/interior design degree or Masters in Architecture Certified Interior Designer will also be considered Preferred Education
