Position Overview

The VP of Finance will serve as a key strategic and operational finance leader for this fast-growing, lower-middle-market business. This is a highly hands-on role responsible for building financial discipline, improving visibility into performance, partnering with operations, and supporting the business through organic growth and add-on acquisitions. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a lean environment, implementing processes and systems, and serving as a thought partner to both the CEO and private equity team.

Key Responsibilities

• Own monthly financial reporting, KPI dashboards, and variance analysis with a strong emphasis on accuracy and speed.
• Establish scalable financial processes, closing timelines, and reporting standards appropriate for a PE-backed company.
• Provide clear financial insights to support strategic decisions and operating initiatives.
• Prepare investor reporting packages and communicate performance drivers.

Budgeting, Forecasting & FP&A

• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting.
• Build a simple but effective forecasting model tied to revenue drivers, margin expectations, and working capital needs.
• Partner with operations to understand branch or business-unit performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Develop and monitor key operating metrics tailored to a sub-$30M business.

• Improve job costing, margin tracking, or unit economics depending on the business model (services, manufacturing, distribution, etc.).
• Supervise a small accounting team and ensure proper controls, policies, and procedures are in place.
• Oversee AP/AR, cash management, payroll, and month-end close.
• Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and financial statements.
