Job summary

Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve seeks an Interim Treasurer to account for all public funds and provide strategic financial leadership to the Governing Board across multiple locations in Ohio.

The role requires overseeing budgeting, reporting, and compliance, while serving as secretary to the Board, and coordinating with the Superintendent on fiscal initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration.
  • Must maintain a valid ODE Treasurer's license.
  • Minimum of 5 years Treasurer experience in a District or ESC.
  • Demonstrated success as a district leader.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Governing Board's chief financial officer responsible for accounting for all receipts and expenditures of public funds in accordance with policies and laws.
  • Act as official secretary to the Governing Board and keep accurate minutes and records of all proceedings.
  • Sign contracts issued to staff together with the Governing Board President.
  • Call board meetings in the absence of President/VP and conduct pro tempore elections.
  • Render timely financial reporting and records.

Location: Madison Local Schools, multiple locations
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary

Serves as the Interim Treasurer of the Governing Board as described in Ohio Revise Code to account for all of the public funds received and disbursed by the ESC as required by law and in accordance with Board policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Governing Board's chief financial officer responsible for accounting for all receipts and expenditures of public funds in accordance with all policies and applicable laws.
  • Serve as official secretary to the Governing Board and keep accurate minutes and records of all proceedings.
  • Together, with the Governing Board President, signs all contracts issued to staff.
  • In the absence of the Governing Board President and Vice-President, the Treasurer calls the Board meeting to order and conducts the election of a pro tempore.
  • Render all financial reporting and records in a timely manner.
  • Manage the investment of available monies.
  • Advise the Governing Board in all matters and make recommendations appropriate to fiscal management policies and procedures.
  • Represent the ESC in dealings with local districts, institutions, agencies, and the general public.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws.
  • Present in conjunction with the Superintendent an annual budget designed to serve the needs of the ESC and its members.
  • Ensure and maintain all necessary bonds and/or certificates, liability policies, etc.as required by law for all required positions, Superintendent, Treasurer and Board Members, etc.
  • Delegate at their own discretion to other employees the power to discharge duties while retaining final responsibility.
  • Collaborates with the Superintendent on new initiatives to support the local districts and to strengthen the ESC.
  • Attend professional growth activities.
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned by the Governing Board.

Education/Experience & Certification:
