Interim Senior Accountant

Location: Northvale, NJ (Hybrid – 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote)
Compensation: $45–50/hour
Duration: Several-month consulting engagement with potential for extension

Our client, a well-established and growing organization in Bergen County, NJ, is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant to support its accounting team during a critical period. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and can quickly contribute to month-end close, financial reporting, and general accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger analysis.
• Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist with financial reporting and ensure timely, accurate completion of accounting deliverables.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting as needed.
• Maintain compliance with company accounting policies and U.S. GAAP.
• Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and other internal stakeholders to support day-to-day accounting activities.
• Assist with audit requests and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work onsite four days per week in Northvale, NJ, with one remote workday.
