Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is partnering with a high-growth technology client to hire an Interim SEC Reporting Manager or Senior Manager in San Francisco. The role is hybrid, with in-office three days per week, through the end of 2026 with potential extension.

You will lead GAAP reporting, disclosures, and audit readiness, build schedules, and collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and Legal. CPA and 6+ years of experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
• 6+ years of accounting experience including 3+ years external reporting.
• GAAP financial statements, disclosures, and audit-ready reporting experience.
• Experience with Workiva and ERP platforms; strong automation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GAAP financial statements, disclosures, footnotes and roll-forwards.
• Build new reporting schedules and disclosures where templates are absent.
• Perform tie-outs, checks, and quality reviews for reporting accuracy.
• Support audit readiness including schedules, auditor requests, and documentation.
• Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal and other stakeholders.
• Translate technical accounting conclusions into disclosures and summaries.
• Research and document technical accounting matters as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and scalability.

Interim SEC Reporting Manager or Senior Manager

Our client, a high-growth technology company, is seeking an Interim SEC Reporting Manager / Senior Manager to help build and support a world-class financial reporting function.

This role is hybrid, with in-office expectations three days per week in San Francisco, CA. The role has an anticipated duration through the end of 2026, with potential for extension based on business needs and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and support financial statements, disclosures, footnotes, roll-forwards, and related reporting schedules
• Build new reporting schedules, disclosures, and supporting documentation where established templates do not exist
• Perform detailed tie-outs, consistency checks, and quality reviews to ensure reporting accuracy and completeness
• Support audit readiness activities, including preparation of supporting schedules, auditor requests, issue resolution, and documentation review
• Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Legal, and other stakeholders to gather, validate, and incorporate reporting inputs
• Translate technical accounting conclusions into clear disclosures, reporting documentation, and executive-level summaries
• Support technical accounting research and documentation related to complex accounting matters
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, enhance scalability, and reduce manual effort while maintaining high reporting quality

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years of external reporting experience
• Strong experience preparing GAAP financial statements, disclosures, and audit-ready reporting documentation
• Experience with public company or late-stage pre-IPO reporting environments and technical accounting matters
• Experience with financial reporting systems such as Workiva and enterprise ERP platforms, along with strong systems and process automation capabilities
