Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Administration or closely related field and building-level principal licensure
  • At least 3 years of progressive school leadership experience
  • Virginia Postgraduate Professional License or eligibility required

Job Summary

Petersburg City Public Schools seeks a dynamic, experienced educational leader to serve as the Interim Principal provides leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills on a substitute or interim basis. The Interim Principal is responsible for the daily operations of the school, encompassing all aspects of the principal role on an as-needed basis. The interim principal must be of good character and of unquestionable morals and integrity. The interim principal shall have the experience and skills necessary to work effectively with the learning community, the division leadership team, students, parents, and the community. This job has responsibilities for all certified staff, support staff employees, student teachers, interns, and volunteers working in the school as well as all students while in the classroom, on school grounds, during division transportation to and from school and during all before and after-school activities. In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Masters degree in School Administration, Educational Leadership or closely related field from an accredited college/university and licensure as a building level principal


Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in school leadership roles, including a proven track record of successfully implementing school-wide change or improvement, preferred.


Certification and License: Virginia Postgraduate Professional License or eligibility for Virginia licensure is required
