Job summary

Korn Ferry is seeking an Interim General Counsel for a hands-on, business-minded leadership role in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This position reports to the CEO with board interaction, overseeing HR and a broad range of California employment and commercial matters in a lean legal team.

The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day legal work, direct outside counsel selectively, and drive practical guidance across governance, compliance and strategic transactions.

Qualifications

• Broad California employment and labor law experience including employee relations, wage/hour matters, and workplace compliance.
• Strong General Counsel or senior in-house generalist background with ability to act as primary legal resource for a small/mid-market business.
• Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts with large retailers and enterprise customers.
• Experience overseeing HR functions and partnering with HR leaders on personnel matters.
• Experience managing outside counsel, litigation, disputes and related budgets.
• Ability to translate legal issues into practical, commercial guidance and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and business leadership to CEO, senior leadership and Board with clear, actionable recommendations.
• Advise on California employment laws, labor relations and workforce related issues.
• Lead and supervise commercial contracting with customers, vendors and enterprise clients.
• Support corporate governance, board matters and corporate records management.
• Provide legal support for M&A due diligence and transaction-related work.
• Oversee disputes, coordinate outside counsel and manage legal spend.
• Ensure regulatory compliance including product labeling, advertising and privacy matters.
